Tokyo Bike Parking Tower

thanks Marc for introducing this to me! The Tokyo Bike Parking Tower.

Does anyone speak Japanese that can translate this to me?

The demand exists: here's one person, and another, and another

Washington Post Write up (author Blaine Harden) on bike options.

Today, I left messages for: Blaine Harden, the MTA bike department, Janette Sadik-Khan, Commissioner of Department of Transportation, and Bruce Ehrmann (from the downtown express write up).

That's a link to a site with some english information. Basically, the site holds 9400 bicycles, costs 100yen per use or 1800 yen for a monthly pass, and has a 23 second retrierval time for the bicycle. Quite impressive. I miagine implementing mulptiple depots for a single facility to eliminate lines would require only a little work.

I wish you the best of luck with your work, but as far as being on the team, I don't know how much help I would be. I'd be happy to consult if you're stuck on something though. I tend to be more useful in difficult situations. Thanks for visiting again.
